Man charged with DUI, eluding police

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Suffolk Police have arrested a man officers say eluded police while driving under the influence Monday.

Debbie George with the City of Suffolk told WAVY.com an officer saw a Jeep speeding down North Main Street around 12:30 a.m. As the officer turned around, the Jeep turned into an opposing lane of traffic.

George said the Jeep continued speeding and serving erratically and ran a stop light before stopping in a driveway on Elizabeth Street.

The driver of the vehicle, James O’Brien, 47, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, drinking while operating a motor vehicle, eluding police and reckless driving.
