VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Virginia Beach Police have charged a man in connection to the death of a 36-year-old woman inside a home along 16th Street in August.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said James Jerome Brooks, 32, has been charged with murder, abduction and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Brooks is accused of killing Laurie Ann Escobar inside a home in the 700 block of 16th Street on Aug. 21.
Brooks was previously wanted for questioning in connection to the murder. He was located last week.
Moyers told WAVY.com Brooks and Escobar were aquaintances.
Brooks was also wanted on outstanding warrants of malicious wounding, abduction and use of a firearm, not connected to the homicide.
Moyers said Brooks is being held at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center without bond.
