Man arrested for threatening to kill judge

DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) - Investigators tracked down a Georgia man accused of threatening to kill a Dare County Judge.

Authorities in Brantley County arrested Paul Wright, 32, Thursday. Wright is accused of making a bomb threat on Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Jerry Tillett and the Dare County Justice Center on Dec. 11.

According to Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard, investigators developed Wright as a suspect through interviews and phone records.

Wright was charged with threaten to kill a court officer and making a false report concerning a destructive device. He is in custody in Georgia awaiting extradition to Dare County for trial.

The investigation is continuing.
