CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - One arrest has been made and officers are searching for a second suspect in connection to a home invasion that led to a SWAT situation Thursday.

According to Jan Clark with the Portsmouth Police Department, a home invasion occurred around 11:45 a.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of Patriot Way.

A Portsmouth police officer spotted the suspect vehicle and witnesses reported to police they saw the occupants of the vehicle run into some nearby houses near Holly Cove Drive in Chesapeake. Clark said SWAT team members were on scene searching for the suspects in the 4000 block of Sloop Trail. Portsmouth and Chesapeake police were on scene as well, according to Clark.

Clark says the area was secured shortly after 4 p.m. and several men fitting the description of the suspects were apprehended.

Friday, police arrested 21-year-old Deshawn Thomas Phillips of Chesapeake in connection to the home invasion. He has been charged with robbery, abduction and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

A second suspect, identified as Keith Ryan Riddick, 30, of Chesapeake is wanted on the same charges, Clark said. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Additional charges are pending and other suspects are sought. Clark did not say if any of those detained Friday would be charged.

Because of the manhunt, school buses coming from Joliff Middle School and Western Branch High School stopped at the entrance of Holly Cove, which is at the intersection of Airline Boulevard and Holly Cove Drive. Students will be able to get off the bus.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
