SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A woman pleaded guilty in court Wednesday to involuntary manslaughter in her granddaughter's death.
According to court documents, 39-year-old Kimberly Artis pled guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter in connection with her granddaughter, 2-year-old Destiny Riddick's drug-related death in July 2011.
Artis and Destiny's grandfather, 51-year-old Steven Bullock, were named as suspects in the child's death in June 2012. An investigation into Destiny's death revealed the child had ingested Suboxone that had been kept in a candy dish.
Steven Bullock was arrested June 30 and Artis was arrested the next day.
