Getaway driver in bomb threat sentenced

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - The getaway driver for two men who placed fake bomb devices on Food Lion employees in October 2011 has been sentenced to three years in prison.

According to Macie Pridgen with the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office, 29-year-old Angelique Stewart of Hampton acted as a getaway driver for her co-conspirators, Emmanuel C. Norman and Jeffrey Malcou.

On Oct. 21, 2011 Norman and Malcou entered a Food Lion store in Hampton impersonating FBI agents. They then placed what they made employees believe were explosive devices on two individuals.

Malcou got into an altercation with a beer vendor and was stabbed. Norman shot the vendor in the leg, who is still recovering. Stewart then picked up the two men as they ran from the store.

Malcou was sentenced to 17.5 years in prison and pleaded guilty to robbery, firearm charges and impersonating a federal agent.

Norman pleaded guilty to robbery, discharging a firearm, impersonating a federal agent and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

All three were ordered to pay $62,000 in restitution.
