NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - The man known as the "fake bearded bandit" cost the 28 stores he allegedly robbed more than $47,000 according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Ronald Carr, 38, was indicted Wednesday for 28 robberies that spanned just under two years across three Hampton Roads jurisdictions.
From December 2010 through November 2012, officials said Ronald Carr targeted auto stores, dollar stores and fast food restaurants in York County, Newport News and Hampton. The estimated total losses to the 28 businesses exceed $47,000.
The investigation into the fake bearded bandit is being conducted by the ATF, Hampton Police Division, Newport News Police Department and the York County Sheriff's Office.
