Driver charged in hit and run, assault

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A Chesapeake man accused of assaulting another driver after a fender bender has been charged.
According to police spokeswoman Kelly O'Sullivan, 62-year-old Joseph McCorristin reportedly ran into the back of another car around 6 p.m. on Oct. 2. Both drivers exited their vehicles after the accident. That's when McCorristin allegedly pushed the other driver, a 20-year-old woman, then left the scene.
An investigation led police to McCorristin's home, where he was charged with misdemeanor hit and run and assault.
