VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A juvenile who allegedly ran away after stealing money off of a hotel counter was stopped by an onlooker who held him down until police arrived to handcuff him.

Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said the 15-year-old took money off of a counter at the Ocean Beach Club Resort Hotel at 3401 Atlantic Avenue, and had disappeared before employees saw it on video and tried to track him down.

The juvenile came back a couple of hours later to the same hotel, and was confronted by employees regarding the earlier incident. Moyers says the juvenile took off running, and once employees caught up with him, the juvenile assaulted the employees.

Despite employees, citizen and an officer holding him down, the juvenile was still able to get away until a citizen caught up with him and held him down until he was handcuffed.

Moyers says the teen has been charged with petty larceny and could face assault charges if the employees decide to press charges.
