PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) - Police say three checks written to a Portsmouth church were stolen from an office inside of the church.
According to Jan Clark with the Portsmouth Police Department, the checks were stolen from the New Mount Olive Baptist Church on County Street between 1:30 p.m. Sunday and midnight that evening.
Clark says the checks were for small amounts of money and the suspect left behind cigarettes.
