HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - From behind bars on robbery charges, Curtis Brazier told WAVY.com he had nothing to do with his girlfriend's death.
The body of 28-year-old Candice Banks was found Monday in the first block of Dogwood Drive. She was last seen Jan. 12 and reported missing Jan. 25.
Brazier is at the Hampton Roads Regional Jail on robbery charges stemming from a fight he and Banks had at a hotel Jan. 1. He told WAVY.com the two often had lovers' quarrels, but this one was different because it was in a public place and police were called.

"We just got into an argument over material things items, stuff like that, and I made a dumb decision for real," Brazier said.
Brazier said he had let Banks borrow his laptop. She then put the laptop inside of her purse, which he snatched from her while the two were at a hotel. Brazier said the police were called and claims Banks told him to leave because he had prior convictions.
He said the two met again Jan. 11 at his mother's house where he was hiding out.
"She said, 'When you go to jail, I'm going to look out for you, hold you down,'" Brazier told 10 On Your Side.
Brazier said that was the last time he saw Banks.
"After that, I texted her a couple of times, said, 'I love you,' she said, 'I love you,' and I ain't heard from her since then," Brazier said.
He was arrested Jan. 14 and told 10 On Your Side he had no idea she was reported missing and found dead during the time he has been jailed.
Banks' father told WAVY.com Monday he believed Brazier may be involved in his daughter's death.
"I think they had an altercation and I think he did something to her," her father said.
Brazier adamantly denied any connection with Banks' death, addressing her father's accusation.
"You already know I had more love for your daughter than you think... It wasn't even nothing like that, man," Brazier said.
