VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Police say a suspect who barricaded himself inside of an apartment was found in the attic Wednesday afternoon.
Grazia Moyers with the Virginia Beach Police Department said Virginia Beach officers were dispatched at 8:10 a.m . to the 1600 block of Chase Arbor Common to assist Norfolk officers with a barricaded suspect.
Michael Augustus was wanted for questioning in connection to crimes that occurred in the City of Norfolk. Chris Amos with the Norfolk Police Department told WAVY News' Lauren Compton Augustus was wanted on a probation violation.
Around 10:45 a.m., Virginia Beach’s SWAT team was dispatched to the scene. Police also utilized a robotic camera and tear gas before they entered the apartment.
Augustus was located inside an attic just after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Nearby residents were evacuated. Green Meadows and Chase Arbor Common were closed.
