Babysitter finds evidence of abuse

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A 30-year-old man is facing a child abuse charge after a babysitter reported finding red marks on a child’s face Saturday.
Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department told WAVY.com the three-year-old child had “pronounced red marks” on her face and under her chin when she was dropped off for daycare.
The babysitter then notified police and an investigation revealed Carl A. Prostell of Newport News, a relative of the child, had struck her in the face and caused the injuries, Eley said.
Prostell has been charged with child abuse or neglect causing serious injury.
