SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Officials say a 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a gas station burglary in Suffolk.

According to Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk, Akia Lamar Scott of the 1100 block of Nansemond Parkway was charged with burglary, grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell, obtain money by false pretense greater than $200 and destruction of property greater than $1,000.

Klink says Scott robbed a Kangaroo Express Gas Station in the 1100 block of Wilroy Road between midnight and 4:25 a.m. on June 30.

Scott allegedly stole scratch-off lottery tickets and extensively damaged the front display of the store. Scott was seen on surveillance cameras at another convenience store cashing in lotto tickets.

Klink says Scott was already in jail for unrelated charges at the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
