USS Normandy to deploy May 17

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Guided-missile cruiser USS Normandy (CG 60) will leave Naval Station Norfolk tomorrow to support Baltic Operation 2012 (BALTOPS 12).

BALTOPS is a military exercise in the Baltic Sea and surrounding area focusing on interoperability among participating nations. This year, those nations include Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Sweden and the United States.

During this deployment, sailors will work with personnel from other nationals on land and at sea to learn different operating procedures.
