PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - A Fort Lee soldier who has a rare form of cancer is embarking on a 100-mile march to raise money in support of cancer research.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Patrick J. Kelly will launch the fund-raising march on Friday, aiming to complete 25 miles a day through Monday. Members of Kelly's unit, the 244th Quartermaster Battalion, will take donations at intersections on the Petersburg base during the march.

Kelly said he's served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Kelly's "Road March for Cancer Research" hopes to raise at least $5,000 for the American Cancer Society.
