NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - After a year long deployment, 80 soldiers from Fort Eustis will have to wait a few more days before they can return home.

The 6th Transportation Battalion, 7th Sustainment Brigade was set to return from Kuwait Monday night, but an ongoing sandstorm prevented that from happening. The soldiers will now return March 22.

Dawn Stewart's husband is one of the returning soldiers.

"It's my husband's fourth deployment and he's never, ever made it home on the day he said he was going to make it home," Stewart said.

Army wife Dana Zevecke added, "...nothing is an exact science. You know that they're going to get home eventually. It's just waiting for it."

While supporting Operation New Dawn, the soldiers distributed supplies to forces leaving Iraq. The brigade is responsible for providing logistical support to a number of global missions.
