HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) - A flag raising ceremony was held at Fort Monroe in Hampton Thursday to honor our nations Veterans.
The event also served as a way to remember all of the men and women who served our country. Several World War II veterans were in attendance for the emotional ceremony.
“It brings back old memories of the support America gives the people of the military and it’s a wonderful feeling,” World War II Veteran Edgar Wood told WAVY.com.
It was the first flag raising since the Army decommissioned the post in September.
