CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - A fallen hero was honored Monday by a local restaurant.
The Chick-fil-A in the Edinburgh Shopping Center hosted a "spirit day." The restaurant and other local businesses donated to We Care Marines , an organization in the honor of Chesapeake's Lance Corporal Cody Childers.
"We are trying to get enough people to come out here today to raise support our military," Chick-fil-A marketing director Patty Brackett said. "We send care packages over to Afghanistan and our goal Monday was to actually to raise enough money to send 500 boxes over to our military for the holidays."
The organization sends care packages to service men and women serving overseas for the holiday season.
