NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - USS Oak Hill has a new commanding officer.
Cmdr. David Bauer relieved Cmdr. Daniel Blackburn at a change of command ceremony at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story September 3.
Blackburn took over as commanding officer in March 2009. His next tour of duty will be with the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, DC.
Cmdr. Bauer is assuming command after serving as Oak Hill's executive officer for 18 months. Bauer enlisted in 1986 and served for 6 years as a nuclear electrician before entering the Enlisted Commissioning Program, through which he received his commission.
USS Oak Hill is the 3rd cargo-variant Dock Landing Ship in the Harpers Ferry class.
