NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - Two separate wreath-laying ceremonies on June 4 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Midway.
The first event was at 10 a.m. at the Aviation Memorial Park at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Rear Adm. Ted Branch, commander of Naval Air Force Atlantic, was the guest speaker.
Adm. Joseph Prueher is the guest speaker at the 7 p.m. ceremony aboard USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) at Naval Station Norfolk. Prueher served as US Ambassador to China from 1999 to 2001 after his career as a Naval Aviator.
Art Kohn will have the latest on local commemoration ceremonies tonight at WAVY News 10 at 5 p.m.
