VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - Several cast members from the "Twilight Saga: New Moon" movie greeted frenzied fans at the Naval Air Station Oceana Navy Exchange Wednesday.
Their two-hour appearance coincided with the recent DVD release of the movie.
While the visit was only open to authorized Navy Exchange patrons (military service members, retirees, and dependents), 300 lucky fans got their picture taken with the cast members. The names of the photo winners were drawn at the Navy Exchange last Saturday.
For young "Twilight" fans Brooke and Sydney, two of the lucky 300, the excitement was almost too much to bare.
"I want to meet them really badly," said Brooke.
The pair waited in line for about two hours, but when it was their turn, they hopped on stage and posed for their picture - a keepsake of the day.
"I asked him what camera to look at," said Brooke, "and he pointed it out."
One woman in attendance was such a loyal "Twilight" follower that she had a line from the film tattooed to her arm.
But the excitement wasn't contained to the crowd. The Navy's Hollywood guests were overwhelmed by the showing.
"Yeah, it's a lot of pressure," said actress Christian Serratos, who played 'Angela' in the movie. "I mean nobody really wants to disappoint these fans."
Organizers say the event was a way to thank the military families for all they go through.
"It's really geared towards the military families, the active duty and their dependents, "Robin Joseph, General Manager of the Navy Exchange Oceana Complex told WAVY News 10. "And it's just a great opportunity for the stars to give back to the military community."
That goal wasn't lost on Serratos.
"One, you're getting to see some really cool stuff and on the other hand you're grateful to these people who are risking their lives," she said. "It's awesome."
After their appearance at the Exchange, the cast members toured the base, visited a squadron and saw a F/A-18 Super Hornet.
And as a keepsake of their own - the stars were given flyer jackets and hats with their names embroidered on them.
Along with Serratos, the cast members of the movie in attendance at the Navy Exchange Wednesday were:
Daniel Cudmore - who played 'Felix'
Alex Meraz - who played 'Paul'
