Tides top Paw Sox 4 to 1.

Jake Arrieta yielded one run in six solid innings, pitching the Tides to a 4-1 win over the Pawtucket Red Sox in front of 8,615 fans at Harbor Park Friday night.

Arrieta (1-2) scattered seven hits - all singles - in the outing as he helped the Tides salvage a split of the four-game set with the Pawsox. The 23-year-old walked three and struck out two as he earned his first Triple-A victory and lowered his ERA to 3.57 in four starts since being promoted from Double-A Bowie.

The Tides trailed 1-0 entering the fifth inning, but Carlos Rojas lined a two-out single off of Red Sox starter Kris Johnson (3-7) that plated Melvin Dorta to put the Tides on the board. Norfolk added two more runs in the sixth frame, as newcomer Michael Aubrey and Dorta connected on back-to-back RBI doubles.

Norfolk padded its lead in the eighth inning, as Justin Christian singled, stole second and scored on a single by Jolbert Cabrera. Christian, who finished with three hits in the contest, has now hit safely in nine straight games and stolen 11 bases in June.

Joey Gathright added two hits in the contest to up his average to .343, while Justin Turner singled in his first game back after being activated from the disabled list earlier in the evening.

Jim Miller recorded the final four outs to register his 16th save of the season, tying him with former Tide Fernando Cabrera for the International League lead.

The Tides take to the road on Saturday for a four-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, with first pitch from Coca-Cola Park scheduled for 7:05. Troy Patton (1-1, 4.50) is slated to pitch for Norfolk against Drew Carpenter (6-1, 3.02).

Roster Update Outfielder Jeff Fiorentino was placed on the disabled list just prior to the game with a sprained ring finger on his left hand. Fiorentino sustained the injury sliding into third base in Thursday afternoon's contest.
