CURRITUCK CO., N.C. - Currituck County residents can now sign up to get alerts and advisories from the Sheriff's Office.
The public safety and community information will go to your cell phone or e-mail account.
The Currituck County Sheriff's Office is using a service called Nixle. This service allows messages to reach up to 100,000 users in three minutes.
For now, Currituck County residents will be able to receive police-related information. Additional county public safety departments, educational facilities and community organizations providing other kinds of information may be introduced in the future.
