Arrest made in early morning shooting

HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton Police arrested a suspect in connection with an early morning shooting on Saturday.

32-year-old Christine Lynne Burrage of Hampton has been charged with killing 29-year-old Damon Andre Smooth after the two got into an arguement, according to police spokesperson Cpl. Paula Ensley.

The incident happened in a parking lot in the 2700 block of N. Armistead Avenue. Cpl. Ensley says a description of Burrage's vehicle was passed onto officers. Several minutes later a vehicle matching the description was stopped in the area of Kecoughtan Road and Pocahontas Place and Burrage was taken into police custody.

Burrage has been charged with 1 count of Murder, 1 count of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony, and 1 count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon. She is being held in the Hampton City Jail.
