VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Beach Police have arrested two men they believe are connected to at least two bank robberies.
Keith Antoine Johnson and Robert Larry Guillory Jr. were arrested on Tuesday. Police believe they were involved in the December 26 robbery of the Chartway Federal Credit Union as well as the December 15 robbery of the Bank of America on Pleasure House Rd.
First precinct police officer James Cason is credited with spotting Johnson's maroon Pontiac G6. Carson followed the car into a parking lot where the suspect ran out of the vehicle and led police on a chase through a nearby apartment complex.
Assisting officers arrived on the scene and located Johnson hiding in a dumpster. 10 On Your Side got exclusive video of the on-site investigation.
Virginia Beach Police spokesperson Adam Bernstein tells WAVY.com that a second suspect surfaced during the investigation and questioning of Johnson. Police located and arrested Robert Guillory Jr. at his residence in Virginia Beach.
Berstein added, "This was an excellent combined effort of officers and detectives to get these dangerous violent suspects off the street."
While right now both suspects face charges in the robbery of only two banks, Bernstein says police are investigating whether or not they were involved in several other robberies in the area.
