Hampton Roads Hero: Elmar Louder

Elizabeth Bassett nominated Elmar Louder  to be chosen as this week's  Hampton Roads Hero.

Elmar is a waiter at Brickhouse Tavern whose quick actions saved Elizabeth's life.

In her nomination letter, Elizabeth had this to say about Elmar, "I was having lunch with a couple of girls from work. I was eating pizza and swallowed some cheese and began to choke.  I could not cough or speak.  I was not getting any air. An employee, Elmar, came to my table and did the Heimlich maneuver.  After a couple of jolts, the food dislodged and I was able to breathe again. Elmar, undoubtedly saved my life."
