NORFOLK, Va. - In an effort to make immunizations more available and fun, the Norfolk Department of Health and the Virginia Zoological Park have to joined together to offer H1N1 shots and a free zoo tour .
On Wednesday, December 16, 2009, the Virginia Zoo will offer free admission to the park and the Virginia Department of Health will have a team of vaccinators on hand to offer the H1N1 shot and spray to the children who attend. This is part of an effort on VDOH's behalf to reduce the anxiety of children and parents who need to get the flu vaccination by letting them get their shots in a more comfortable environment.
If your child has already received his or her first shot, booster vaccines will be available. Children 9yrs of age and younger are recommended to get a second dose of the vaccine.
Bring your camera and take some "shots" of the zoo animals while you're there.
Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
