PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVBT) - I'm sure everyone has heard that Extreme Makeover Home Edition is coming to Hampton Roads.

Maria Owens, a manager of BayPort Credit Union, to tells us how to get involved. BayPort has a long standing relationship with the peninsula foodbank and eagerly agreed to become a drop-off site at their 12 different locations.

You can donate non-perishable items-canned goods, peanut butter, fruit juices, cereal, boxed macaroni and cheese and money is always welcomed. For every dollar donated, the foodbank is able to provide $10 worth of food! All foods and donations remain in your local communities. Also, you can volunteer your time. Just go to your local foodbank's website or give them a call.

BayPort was the first to donate 400 pounds of food last Friday morning. While they enjoy the fun of the competition, we never lose sight of what our giving can provide in the lives in need.

If you are interested in helping out the community, please drop off your food at any BayPort Branch and BayPort will see that the food gets to the local foodbank or you can learn more by going to www.bayportcu.org .
