PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVBT) - Two weeks ago, Amy Volk stopped by The Hampton Roads Show studio to help us organize our desks, at home and at work.

You can find that segment here.

If you feel your workspace is still cluttered, if you're still swimming in PAPER, Amy has some innovative ideas to tackle the piles, with something called digital paper storage.

Digital Paper Storage options

1)Neat Receipts

Neat Receipts--$199-$399, mobile

Neat Desk--High-speed scanner

Both have robust data fields to scan

*Documents, including art

*Business cards

*Receipts

You can scan all your documents and they go into the downloaded software.

Can create tax records, expense reports, and digital contacts.

Searchable PDF documents.

Data can be imported into Excel, Turbo Tax, Quicken, and more.

Data resides on your computer.

2)  Office Drop

Web-based application.  Data resides on a secure website with password protection.

Envelopes sent to home or business and postage is paid both ways with your subscription.

Subscriptions vary from $14.95/month to $59.95/month.

You simply fill the envelope (max 50 pages) and send in.  Office Drop will scan it and upload it to your account into searchable PDF documents.  You can choose to have the papers shredded there or returned to you.

You can send it up to 25 different kinds of documents including artwork.  Just new...you can scan your documents right into your account with your own scanner.

You can organize documents into folders, add labels, and share.  Searchable by words, numbers, and phrases.

Office Drop interacts with other web applications.

3)  Shoeboxed

Similar to Office Drop, but they only scan receipts and business cards.  They can do documents, but limited capacity to do so.

Unique feature is that you can use your smart phone or picture of receipts, too!  Has an iphone app.

Interfaces with several other web applications, including being able to download an online receipt right into your Shoebox account.
