PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVBT) - So many credit card companies offer rewards points, but sometimes those rewards expire or they don't work out how you planned.
BayPort Credit Union's ScoreCard Points are different. Angela Snyder, BayPort Service Development Manager talked about the benefits to the program.
Details:
What are ScoreCard Points
* Reward points for using your credit card
* Receive points for merchandise or travel - air, hotel, car rentals and even vacation packages.
* Depending on card type - some points never expire and others expire after two years.
How ScoreCard Points work
* Receive 1 point for every dollar charged - and if you do it like me, your points accumulate very quickly.
* Your points are listed on your monthly credit card statement or you can log-in to the ScoreCard website to view point totals, view the catalogs and redeem points.
* Points can be redeemed on line or by calling ScoreCard customer service.
* 6 - 8 weeks for merchandise delivery but it usually comes within a few weeks.
How I use ScoreCard Points
* I charge EVERYTHING. It doesn't matter the amount $2.50 or $250. This way my points accumulate much faster.
* I keep the receipts in my wallet and since my husband and I get paid every two weeks on alternating schedules, I simply add up the receipts at the end of the week and transfer the money to my credit card.
* However, must be very disciplined to do it the way I do. It's very easy for your spending to get out of control.
My purchases with ScoreCard Points
* Cordless drill, HDTD DVD combo, airline tickets (11), home theater system, Ipod's.
* It's like shopping with free money!
