Melanie Woodrow

Melanie Woodrow joined WAVY/WVBT as the Military Reporter in January 2007.

Previously, Melanie was the Morning Anchor and a Reporter at NBC25 in Hagerstown, MD. In addition to producing, anchoring and one-man-band reporting for NBC25, she also reported news for two local radio stations, Lite 97.5 and Cool 95.9.

While at NBC25, Melanie exclusively reported Washington County's first ever Internet online predator sting. Melanie was the only reporter to have a sit-down interview with the first suspect caught.

After a man was burned by police while being arrested, Melanie broke the news that he had been tazered and pepper sprayed by two local law enforcement agencies carrying non-compatible weapons.

Both stories were nominated for the Radio-Television News Directors Association and Foundation Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards.

Melanie led NBC25's coverage of a correctional officer shot and killed at a hospital while guarding a prison inmate. Melanie is the only reporter who has ever been granted an interview by his former wife.

Prior to joining NBC25, Melanie was a Production Assistant at MSNBC.

She also worked for JPMorgan Chase for two years in New York City.

Melanie graduated from Cornell University in 2001. She was the Valedictorian of Cornell University's College of Human Ecology.
